• 🏈 It’s the birthplace of the NFL. In 1920, the organization that became the National Football League (NFL) was founded during a meeting in downtown Canton. 
• 🏆 The Pro Football Hall of Fame is here. Canton is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where the greatest players, coaches, and contributors in football history are honored. Every summer, thousands of fans visit for Enshrinement Week festivities. 
• 🇺🇸 President William McKinley is buried in Canton. The impressive McKinley National Memorial is the final resting place of the 25th President of the United States and is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. 
• 👩‍💼 It’s home to the First Ladies National Historic Site. Canton is the only city in the U.S. with a museum dedicated to celebrating the contributions of America’s First Ladies. 
• 🏭 It was once a manufacturing powerhouse. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Canton became known for producing steel, farm equipment, and other industrial products, helping fuel its rapid growth. 
• 🌏 The city is named after Canton, China. Surveyor Bezaleel Wells named the city after the Chinese port city (now commonly known as Guangzhou) in honor of a trader he admired. 
• 🎭 Downtown Canton has a thriving arts scene. Centennial Plaza, the historic Palace Theatre, museums, and monthly First Friday celebrations make downtown a popular destination for live music, food, and local art. 
• 🌟 It’s known as the “Hall of Fame City.” Because of its deep football history and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton proudly embraces the nickname Hall of Fame City.
