- 🏈 One of Ohio’s oldest football rivalries is played here. Dover High School’s Crimson Tornadoes have faced neighboring New Philadelphia every year for more than a century, making it one of the longest-running high school football rivalries in Ohio.
- 🚣 The Ohio & Erie Canal shaped the city’s history. Dover was once a busy canal town before the railroad arrived in 1854, helping the city grow into an important manufacturing center.
- ⚡ Dover owns its own electric utility. The city has operated a municipal electric system since the late 1800s, continuing a tradition of locally managed public utilities.
- 🎉 Canal Days is one of the area’s biggest festivals. Held each Memorial Day weekend, the festival celebrates Dover’s canal heritage with live music, food, crafts, and family activities.
- 🌳 It borders New Philadelphia. The two cities are often called the Twin Cities of Tuscarawas County because they share a border and many community events and services.
- 💧 Its water was famous for its purity. Dover’s water supply remained untreated until 1998, making it one of the last cities east of the Mississippi River to begin disinfecting its drinking water because of its naturally high quality
